A husband, father, pastor, and friend
You didn’t have to know pastor Johnson Bakashaba for very long before seeing his love for God and experiencing that love yourself. Johnson changed the mood of a room when he walked in. His welcoming smile would light up a room and he would put you at ease with his gracious manner. He was a man of great accomplishments for the Kingdom, and yet he was a humble man knowing the source of his strength and achievements. Johnson had a deep, active faith in God that compelled him to spread the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all who would listen. He loved sacrificially, especially those who were in the greatest need. He was a loving husband to Margaret and a proud father to Paul Bakashaba, Patricia Blessing, Arinda Precious Angel, and Isaac Bakashaba Junior.
A man of faith, vision, and purpose
Pastor Johnson Bakashaba was born in 1968 in Kabale, Uganda, East Africa. He lost his parents at an early age. He grew up with his relatives, who took care of him and raised him as their own child. They enrolled him in secondary school. His dream was to become a Medical Doctor, but calamity befell him in 1987, when his uncle who was paying his school fees died. Johnson dropped out of school and began helping his aunt with business. It was about that time that Johnson gave his life to Jesus and a new life began as he found new hope in Jesus Christ.
It wasn’t long after that God called him into ministry in 1988. He attended Bible school for three years starting in 1989 after which he started to serve in Pastoral ministry in his local church. God led him to start what later became Revival Outreach Ministries in 1997 in a slummy part of Kabale. He started with only 5 people, but through the years as Johnson continued to say “yes” when God called him to build His Kingdom, Revival Outreach Ministries has grown to include 60 Branches all over Kabale district and other districts in the country.
Because of the good seed of compassion and love his foster parents planted in him, God put a burden upon Johnson to take care of helpless children. He spent his very first earnings taking orphans to school. He provided shelter to suffering homeless children which is now called House of Hope. Johnson also had a strong desire to see disadvantaged children go to school and have shelter, food, and clothing. This vision led to the start of forming a Christian school which became Ebenezer Christian School.
Leaving a legacy of love for generations to come
It’s hard to overstate the impact Pastor Johnson has made on so many people in the Kabale region—and around the world. His faith and obedience to God’s call have changed the eternal destiny of hundreds and thousands of children and adults alike and brought hope when there was despair. But Pastor Johnson’s legacy not only affected their eternal destiny, it also provided help for their everyday needs here and now, like education to break the cycle of poverty, food to nourish the body, and words of life from the Bible—God’s Word—that bring encouragement, hope, and healing for daily living.
Pastor Johnson Bakashaba, the founder of this ministry, if he were still here with us would give all glory to God for what he did in him, and through him, to bring hope, life, and hope to the children and people of Kabale. And we agree with you Johnson, but we also honor you and rejoice with you and look forward to that day when we can—like you—see Jesus face-to-face. Oh, what a celebration that will be, our pastor and friend!
